Sketchbook Cover

I choose the quote, "What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that's gone forever, impossible to reproduce", by Karl Lagerfeld. I can relate to it because you can never get back a moment after it has happened, unless you get a photograph of the moment. Over the summer I took a lot of photographs of my nephew playing; if I wanted to relive that moment all I'd have to do is look at the photographs that I took. I choose the 5 pictures displayed on my sketchbook because I love taking pictures of flowers. I love how flowers have their own unique shape/form and I love the different colors. In the end, I liked how my sketchbook cover turned out.

HDR Article Notes

  • HDR allows a photographer to make a photograph more dramatically dynamic by merging different exposures of a same scene.
  • HDR is used in video games as they allow to render a same scene under a variety of lighting conditions.
  • Darkens highlights and brightens shadows so that details can be retained in each area.
  • To create an HDR image need a set of bracketed images and a software, such as, Photomatix Pro, where the images are aligned and merged into a single photo.
  • Contrast is then reduced through tone mapping.
  • To take an HDR image you need a tripod to keep the camera as stable as possible between shots.

HDR Examples

I like this picture because I like how you can see the reflection of the bridge. I also like how you can see the detail of the brick that makes up the bridge.

I like how the tree frames part of the bridge. I also like how the picture as a whole looks in HDR.

I like how the picture has a dark/mystic feel to it. I also like how the lines and the different lighting tones leads the eye towards the end of the hall where the silhouette of a person stands.

I like how you can see the reflection of the clouds and trees in the lake. I also like how the picture looks like its a painting rather than a photograph.

I like the color of the wood and how the sky is a dark gray rather than it being a beautiful light sky blue. I think it helps to show that that is the type of sky boatsman see when they go out to sea far from land.

I like how most of the light is shining on the plants that are in the middle of the columns. I also like how the rest of the picture is this sort of a golden brown color. Compositionally, I like how the columns are there to sort of enclose the flowers and the light.

Practice shots of CV

ISO: 100, Aperture: f/22, Shutter speed: (1/15), (1/60), (1/4). I choose to take a photograph of the dugout because I played softball when I was younger.

ISO: 100, Aperture: f/22, Shutter Speed: (1/40), (1/160), (1/10). Like the dugout I choose to take a photograph of the softball field to symbolize a part of my past.

ISO: 100, Aperture: f/22, Shutter Speed: (1/30), (1/125), (1/8). I took a picture of the Cv Marching Band equipment truck because I was apart of the color guard for about 4 years.

Best Photo from Summer

I thought that this picture was one of the best photo that I took over the summer. I took this photo at my aunts wedding. I saw the flower just sitting on the plate next to a fork and thought it would make an interesting photo. When I looked at it on my laptop I liked how the orange of the flower and the silver of the fork kind of contrasted against each other. I liked how the flower is mostly in focus with the foreground and background out of focus. I think it helps with the composition of the photograph. I also like how the fork kind of leads the eyes toward the flower.
